IOCAs Fall Lake George!
Camping on an Island in the narrows of Lake George, Bolton Landing, NY.
Parking for launch Veterans Memorial Park in designated spots only, No Grass operation.

Who: The Intercollegiate Outing Club Association and YOU!

What: IOCA Fall Lake George 2018: ~40-200 people, 3 days, 1 island. -Activities: Camping, hammock swinging, hiking, cliff jumping, canoeing, kayaking, fires, callers and dancing under the lights & stars. Or just chilling on an Island, relax and take a nap.

When: Friday, October 19, 2018 – Sunday, October 21, 2018
Show up anytime after noon on Friday Oct. 19th

Where: Boats will depart/launch from Veterans Memorial Beach in Bolton Landing, NY.
Please park in designated parking spots only, DO NOT drive or operate on grass.

Why: Because FLG is just plain fun!!

How: By Motor boat, or if capable/able: canoe, kayak, Sailboat, dingy, 20 person war canoe rental

Cost Per Person:

General: $30 day of, pay before and save (for all IOCA FLG goers)
Powerboat: $30 day of, pay before and save (for getting a ride in a powerboat to and from the island, includes gear)
Canoe Rental: Own or Rental (may split the cost of a canoe between multiple people)
Cost Summary: Total No Boat ride day of-$30, or Total with boat ride day of-$60

Note: Save $5 per person and pay at least a week before by postal mail (must be received and confirmed to be valid).
Early Bird Discount Cost Summary: Total No Boat ride day of-$25, or Total with boat ride day of-$50

NOTE: You do not need to be a member of any outing club or even a current student of any school to attend! Alumni can attend! Current students are encouraged to bring friends 18+.

If you will be coming with a school group or outing club:
Once you know how many people from your school will be attending and who needs canoes/powerboats etc, please send me an email with this information. If an entire outing club pays together in advance, choice of site and further discount can be discussed, please do not hesitate to contact me through e-mail (below).

If you choose to send check to the postal address, please include a piece of paper with the name of your school, your name, your email, how many people are attending, and how many motor boat rides you are paying for in the envelope. Please try as hard as you can to get payments to me by Tuesday, October 18th, which means postmarked several days before depending on your location (USPS has an expedited 2-day and overnight service with expected and guaranteed delivery times at the counter).

5 to 7 business days is what most letters require.

In the event that you can not make this deadline please email me with as much information as you can give me (Name, School, phone, email, time of arrival, number in party, number of individuals needing a boat ride, etc). Please come with either exact change or check/checks made out to Jonathan Nowak.

Do not forget, you can pay the day of the event, but I strongly encourage you to pay in advance and save at least $5 each person. To receive the discount confirmation must be made so you will be placed on the PAID list.

As always, Fall Lake George is a dry event. No illegal drugs or alcohol, please. It really ends up being a lot more fun this way so people do not get hurt, I urge all club leaders to pass this information on to those who will be attending.

Cooking: Firewood may be in short supply so please bring a stove for any cooking needs. DO NOT BRING FIREWOOD FROM OUT OF THE AREA. It is not only illegal but will endanger the forests by bring in invasive bugs.
There is a Stewarts a couple blocks down the road from the Parking lot that has Firewood or local roadside vendors.

Food: Everyone will need to bring food for: dinner on Friday; breakfast and lunch on Saturday, and breakfast on Sunday. Please plan accordingly. A simple Saturday night dinner is being planned for everyone.

enough to keep you warm at 40 or not too hot at 70.
Rain Gear (Jacket & Paints, or Poncho)
3pr. Wool or Synthetic Socks
3pr Underwear
Synthetic or Wool Long Underwear (Tops & Bottoms)
Gloves or Mittens; Wool or Winter Hat
1-2pr. Shorts; 1-2pr. Long Paints
2 T-Shirts
2 Warm Shirts
1 Jacket
Bathing Suit; Towel
Hiking Boots; Sneakers

FOOD:
Food, snacks, and appropriate cooking gear for all meals.
Saturday Dinner will be served; you need food for all other meals

OTHER GEAR
Flashlight & Extra Batteries
Silverware/plate/cup
Sleeping Bag & Insulating Pad & Pillow
Tent & Ground Cloth
2 Water Bottles and water purification pump
Garbage bags for garbage plus 4 EXTRA Garbage Bags (to keep dry gear dry and wet gear from getting dry gear wet)
Eyeglass Strap for kayaking
Extra eyeglasses, particularly if you wear contacts
Toilet Paper and the basic Toiletries
First Aid Kit
Camera; Sunglasses; Compass
Trip Specific Gear (Rock-climbing Gear etc.)
Dry bags or some appropriate sized plastic freezer bags to keep essentials, camera, cell phones, etc. dry.

Directions to Fall Lake George:

From the South:

Take Rt. 87 (Adirondack Northway) North bound heading towards Saratoga Springs-Glens Falls area.
Get off the Northway (87) at exit 22.
The ramp is approximately 1/4 mile in length and stay in the left most lane keeping a sharp lookout for route 9N.
At the end of the ramp, take a left and follow route 9N. Headed North.
Stay on 9N for approximately 11 miles.
You will pass through the town of Bolton Landing.
After going through the two traffic lights in town, you will see the Fire Station on the left and a Stewarts on the right.
After those landmarks, you will see the entrance to Veterans Memorial Park on the right.

From the North:
West of Lake George:
Head south on I-87 S (ADK Northway),
Take exit 24 toward Bolton Landing,
Turn left onto Bolton Landing-Riverbank Rd,
Turn right onto NY-9N Headed South,
Approx. 1.4 miles Turn Left into Veterans Memorial Park (5034 Lake Shore Dr, Bolton Landing, NY 12814)

If you pass a Stewarts on the left and a fire station on the right you went to far (Stop light, Sagamore, and the Main street of the town means you went to far as well).

East of Lake George: (Ticonderoga, NY)
Turn onto NY-9N Headed South,
Approx. 1.4 miles Turn Left into Veterans Memorial Park (5034 Lake Shore Dr, Bolton Landing, NY 12814)

If you pass a Stewarts on the left and a fire station on the right you went to far (Stop light, Sagamore, and the Main street of the town means you went to far as well).
